What is a Cylindrical Lens?

    A cylindrical mirror has curvature in one dimension and is used to focus a light source into a one-dimensional shape. In other words, changing the way the light source in an optical system and converting it to a linear light source. Cylindrical lenses can be used to correct the dispersion of an optical system. It is widely used in high-precision measuring instruments and equipment such as high-power, long-range linear interferometers. Cylindrical lenses are also commonly used in synchrotron radiation beamlines, barcode scanning and high power laser systems.
